Located at C. 5 de Mayo 93, this charming establishment offers a delightful blend of traditional and contemporary Mexican cuisine that never fails to impress. Maruca Cocina & Sobremesa is more than just a restaurant; it's a celebration of flavors, textures, and the warmth of exceptional service.
One of the standout highlights of Maruca is its thoughtfully crafted menu, which features an array of Mexican fusion dishes that cater to a variety of palates. Enthusiastic diners have raved about the Croquetas de Camaron, where crispy exteriors embrace a delectable shrimp filling, and the Jalapenos Crujientes, which pack a spicy flavor punch. These starters set the tone for an incredible dining experience that draws on both traditional and modern influences.
The main course offerings are equally impressive. The Tacos de Lengua y Consome boast soft and tender meat, serving as a comforting staple, while the Camarones Flameados con Ravioles Rellenos de Huitlacoche showcases the unique essence of huitlacoche, a sought-after Mexican delicacy. For those craving something extraordinary, the Pulpo Adobado treats diners to grilled octopus bathed in a savory guajillo sauce. The ability to fuse flavors is expertly exemplified in the Fusilli al Pesto con Camarones, where the pesto’s subtle notes perfectly complement the al dente pasta. Each dish is presented elegantly, with generous portions that won't leave you wanting more.
But the delightful journey doesn’t end there. Dessert at Maruca is a feast for both the eyes and palate. Indulge in the Churros con Helado de Cafe de Olla, crafted in-house, and served with a rich chocolate sauce alongside a refreshing coffee ice cream. The Pastel de Elote adds a sweet finishing touch with its soft caramel topping, providing the perfect balance to the savory lead-up.

This is a great place! Breakfast are tasty and traditional, but service is exceptional. We had an issue with one plate, but they solved it fast and very nicely!! Look forward in coming back soon!

Had heard good things about Maruca, so on my last visit to Queretaro I made a point of visiting this restaurant. Its location in the downtown area made it easy to find, plus the walk there was awesome in this historic city. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted by Jorge, owner, and he kindly directed us to our table in a cozy, open patio where a nice breeze made our stay very comfortable. The lunch/dinner menu was quite interesting, with Mexican fusion dishes, traditional and modern tastes, varied textures in delectable combinations. Started off with Croquetas de Camaron (crisp, the shrimp filling awesome!) and Jalapenos Crujientes (spicy and flavourful). Followed that with Sopa de Haba con Nopal (faba bean soup with cactus leaf, delicious!). As our main, Tacos de Lengua y Consome (tongue tacos, soft and tender!), Camarones Flameados con Ravioles Rellenos de Huitlacoche (huitlacoche, a mexican delicacy: corn fungi), Pulpo Adobado (grilled octopus in guajillo sauce), and Fusilli al Pesto con Camarones (pesto was done just right and pasta cooked perfect, al dente). Other highlights include the very rich Mole de Olla, Canelones Vegetarianos, and pasta options, such as Spaghetti Arrabiata Cremosa al Chipotle. Dessert was equally original, Churros con Helado de Cafe de Olla, house-made churros with a chocolate sauce and a refreshing coffee ice cream on the side. Had to try their Pastel de Elote (cornbread with a soft caramel topping). Every dish presented very elegantly; portions, generous. Service attentive and always smiling. Prices, quite reasonable. A must on your next visit to Queretaro!

We have passed by the restaurant while visiting the city center and decided that we should come and eat and it was an ABSOLUTELY worthy experience. All the food was excellent. The service was also so friendly and they even let us try a new dessert from the kitchen. Highly recommend this place!

Simply delicious! Service was fantastic. Our waitress was so personable. The stuffed bacon wrapped jalapenos were yummy, and steak was prepared exactly as requested. We will return!

Small and nice cosy place in Queretaro city centre. Delicious fresh juice. Carrot and orange juice. Great salad with fruits. Friendly staff. They really do their best to help customers.

We came as a group so got to try everything off the breakfast menu. It was delicious! Every single thing we had was good. The do a breakfast offer with juice and coffee that is really worth it! I payed 155 peso for mine. It does get quit busy during the weekend so best to make a reservation.

This is a wonderful quiet restaurant in a quiet courtyard. The food is exquisitely prepared with care and plated like the fanciest of restaurants. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough. The food is delicious and a great value.

One of my favorite restaurants in Queretaro. Excellent dinners and breakfasts in a delightful courtyard space. Staff is fantatastic and the menu is rooted in tradition while showing great creativity.
